Application Requirements

You must be attending a GGUSD high school for the duration of the program.

Please provide a signed copy of the Parent Acknowledgement Form.

To help us with the selection process, you will need to answer the following questions separately in your submission. Responses to all questions are required.
► Provide a 500-word minimum personal statement that discusses your background and the reason why you want to participate in this student exchange program and become a Garden Grove ambassador.
► Please list the extracurricular activities (school, community, church, etc.) that you are involved in with a brief description of your participation in each and when you started/ended each activity.
► Your expenses over and above the scholarship amount (airfare, passport, insurance, incidentals, etc.) will be approximately $800. Please explain how you will be financing these expenses.

A copy of your school transcript (not progress report).

Please ask your writers to submit their letters of recommendation.
If you are unable to submit through our portal, please email them to info@ggsistercity.org.
Please note, letters from friends and family members are not acceptable.

You are required to cover half of the airfare, up to no more than $700 with the Sister City Association sponsoring the remaining balance and travel insurance.
Other expenses including obtaining or renewing a passport, and incidentals, such as costs for meals and shopping expenses while in Korea, are also your responsibility.

While not a requirement, it is highly recommended that you host a student to get the most out of this program. Please see the Host Requirements for more information.

Important Dates

The application for the Student Exchange Program are from August 19, 2024 - September 22, 2024.

Students will be scheduled for interviews on October 19, 2024 (tentative) with SCAGG members.

Students selected into the program will be announced in late October, early November 2024.

GGUSD students will travel to Anyang during Spring Break 2025, which may include two (2) school days.
Please note, Student Ambassadors must take the necessary steps to request their absences and work with their schools to ensure that all school work is covered.
